Vila Velha de Ródão ((:ˈvilɐ ˈvɛʎɐ ðɨ ˈʁɔðɐ̃w̃)) is a municipality in the district of Castelo Branco in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 3,521,〔(Instituto Nacional de Estatística )〕 in an area of 329.91 km².〔(Direção-Geral do Território )〕 The present mayor is Maria Carmo Sequeira, elected by the Socialist Party. The municipal holiday is the Monday after the 4th Sunday of August. In 1762 it was the site of the Battle of Vila Velha.
